Mauricio Sanchez A runner and
triathlete, Mauricio is in the midst of his fourth tri
season. With four marathons, several half
marathons, numerous sprint distance runs and triathlons, the Augusta,
Steelhead and New Orleans Ironman 70.3 under his belt,
Mauricio is in the midst of training for the Ironman
Louisville, his first full distance Ironman.
Endurance Geeks entered the picture as Mauricio was
looking for a way to be more effective on the running
and tri courses. First order or business was to
complete a VO2
Max test. From here,
Barry Baird
designed a plan to get Mauricio through the hot and
humid course of Augusta, GA. "The biggest
difference for me is to be able to train with a plan.
Going at it blindly worked at the beginning but as my
goals changed and they became more aggressive, it was
evident that I needed to follow a structured plan to get
me to the finish line." "This year I took
the Heart Rate training more seriously. I have
found that my perception of effort was higher than it
really was. When I first strapped the monitor on,
I was amazed at how low my hr was. So I began to
push it to the limit dictated by the training plan.
This has me running and biking at a more efficient
pace." "As time goes by I find myself
able to train at higher zones for longer periods.
This has also made a huge difference. I don't
think that this is something I could have discovered on
my own." This year, Mauricio has
been very busy. Non stop training has brought him
to the verge of his most aggressive goal yet; Ironman
Louisville to take place August 28, 2011
